Life Transition

Change can be not just challenging, sometimes it can be overwhelming.

Life transitions can show up in relationships, friendships, family, work, becoming parents, moving, ageing, health and wellbeing.

This may create levels of anxiety, avoidance, insecurity or just a level of not knowing what to feel or how to adapt.

Together, we will work towards understanding the change, learning to embrace what it may mean for you and gently move forward.

Women’s Well-being

Many women come and see me whilst not truly understanding what it is they feel they need. Yet what they know for certain is that they are mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted.

Two areas are often the most common root cause:
  1. They’ve given so much to their partners, children, work, family, elderly parents, friends, and everyone else who may cross into their lives, they’ve left themselves last.

  2. All women will go through menopause at some point in life, however those journeys are all different and can present varying degrees of difficulty. It’s important to seek medical treatment to support the symptoms if required.

A loss of self-identity is often felt by women whose children start to leave home or when their home has changed, is now full of adults, just their partner or they’re left alone.

Our role changes, everyone’s expectations start to shift. We can feel guilty or nostalgic and never feel quite ready to begin moving forward to focus more on oneself.

Menopause is a natural physical transition, yet the psychological impact is often overlooked. Whilst our body adjusts to the significant transformations that are taking place, menopause often brings emotional changes.

Every woman’s experience will be different, and some may experience mood swings, mental health issues, anxiety, irritability (frustration & anger), low libido and forgetfulness. For a lot of women this also occurs at the busiest time in their lives, children, careers, elderly parents and more.

This can make it even more complicated and frustrating.

Ageing Well-being

Ageing is natural yet it can present a host of challenges for oneself, a loved one, families, friends, and relatives. We all progress from being young, to middle aged, to retirement and later years at some point.

Whilst some people seemingly take these transitions in their stride, it’s not the case for everyone. Rather, ageing can end up being far more challenging than we imagined or expected.

Health issues, family conflict, dementia, stress, anxiety, and times of grief all tend to become more frequent as we age. While these situations can be daunting, counselling is a safe space to talk through your thoughts and emotional states, to boost our wellbeing and mental health.
